Simon Thorley working in his studio.

Having played guitar since my teenage years,
I have always taken a great interest in how they work
and in how to improve their sound. After working on a
number of projects buying and repairing old guitars,
I decided that I needed to learn how to make guitars
properly. So in 2013 I moved to London and studied
acoustic guitar making and repair at South Thames
college. During my time there, I built a couple of
guitars and soaked up a whole wealth of knowledge
on the subject.

Since my move back to Yorkshire I have found a
workshop nearby, and I have been working on
repairs as well as a prototype of a resonator slide
guitar. I will be open to take on commissions once
this current resonator is finished.
